paolamarinangeli 0 Posted February 23, 2009 I have started to use different items for my still life and try to experiment new type of composition compared to my 'classic' old master oriented Still life shots. The aim of this group of photos done using old african items is to emphasize the textures that in this kind of pieces is usually very fascinating. An ''Ashanti'' doll and a mask from Gabon are the models here, focusing the attention with a macro lense, on the face, mostly on the eyes, I have named this shot ''African Eyes'' here for yr comments and critiques Thanks Link to comment
AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted February 23, 2009 I liked the thumbnail when I saw it in the queue, but there are a couple of things that I think would help this in general. The shadows fall off quite sharply, so we lose a lot of detail in the mask on the left. I like the composition and the arrangement of the masks, but I'm wondering if setting the masks at different depths would create a more direct image by emphasizing and focusing on one of them. My eye tends to simply jump back and forth between the two. I hope you keep trying different compositions and lighting; they are very interesting. Cheers, Aaron Link to comment
