tony_dummett 0 Posted February 13, 2001 I knew this was one of Miguel's pictures. You can tell his style. Simple, powerful geometry, extra elements to add interest (in this case the snow and the passing bus) and an uncomplicated capturing of an everyday movement - mid-step, crossing the street - that adds up to the classiness typical of all his pictures. Maybe a little more detail in the figure could have been provided, but otherwise a very easy picture to admire (and envy a little). There is a real visual poetry here. Link to comment

kevin_matthews1 0 Posted March 23, 2001 Very nice picture. I notice that it works well at the "normal" size, but also as a thumbnail. Link to comment
daniel_rios 0 Posted March 23, 2001 i rememer this storm. just before new years. excellent job capturing it. desolate new york is not very easy to capture, but this is a very balanced and simple shot. all around, a great shot. Link to comment

becky 0 Posted April 19, 2001 love it - very Steiglitz or Steichen like (can't remember from my Hist. of Photo Class so many years ago.) I wish the person was just a little off to the right a bit more. I love the desolation. Link to comment
gil_archway 0 Posted May 8, 2001 It's all of time!!!! Without time. Looks like in 70's or 60's or 50's.... Very good! Link to comment

david_doyle2 0 Posted June 13, 2001 An excellent example of shooting anywhere, anytime under any circumstance. Who of us would think to take out their cameras in that muck? Link to comment

piero_rocca 0 Posted July 1, 2001 Great shot. Would have taken the bus out of the photo because then I wouldn't be able to tell the time period. As well, for me would have been more emotional without the bus. Link to comment
ovidiu moise 0 Posted July 22, 2001 Beautiful composition, excellent capture of the decisive moment. Very nice work, Miguel. Link to comment
knut_schalldach 0 Posted August 7, 2001 Very nice shot (like all others from Miguel). In my opinion the bus is a very important element in this photo. For me it symbolizes a save and warm shelter, where people cover from the snow storm. It creates a contrast to the man fighting his way through the storm. This way it creates an emotional contrast for me as a viewer.I also like it because it shows NY in the year 2000 and not in 1950, but it still makes you feel very timeless about the whole scene. My 2 cents, Knut Link to comment
david_parmet1 0 Posted August 13, 2001 It reminds me of Stieglitz's picture of the horse carriage in a snow storm. The story goes that he stood out in a blizzard for three hours waiting for that shot to happen. I hope you didn't have to wait quite that long. This is one of those pictures that makes me remember why I love black and white photography. Link to comment
csabii 0 Posted September 27, 2001 I can't tell you why, but I feel that the bus is just at the right place... Without it I think the left side of the picture would be a little bit empty. Amousing shot! Link to comment
