bretsch 0 Posted February 18, 2009 “Life moves out of a red flare of dreams into a common light of common hours, until old age bring the red flare again.” - William Butler Yeats. By the time I converted this to B&W, the flare was more than evident, so, I had to do something about it, so why not this.... A Red Flare. Let me know what you think about it. Thanks Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 18, 2009 And so from unfortunate happenstance comes poetry, both real and pictorial. Not fade to black, fade to red. Somehow appropriate. Link to comment
Link to comment
Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted February 20, 2009 This look & feel so much like a piece of alien land, the red flare esp enhance the feeling. Don't think B/W will work here. Your choice of colour is good here. Link to comment
Excelente luz. Un saludo Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted February 20, 2009 Jack, yours is one of the most flattering comments I've gotten for any of my pictures; specially when coming from someone who's work and words I admire and respect so much. Thank you, Josu, muchas gracias. Un abrazo, Cherlyn, thank you; you're absolutely right, that alien look, was something I was striving for, while working on it. Thank you for stopping by and commenting on it. Saludos, Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted February 20, 2009 The perspective is ingenious because it leads the eyes to this intriguing landscape like a prelude making a proper introduction. The choice of colors create a soothing and calm ambience yet it adds an alien touch that invites the viewer to linger around and inspect it further. Link to comment

chens 0 Posted February 21, 2009 excellent capture and perspective. very good treatment.a dramatic picture. even the upper part, without the ground or valley, is striking enough. beautiful as always. congrats. Link to comment
J. Perez 0 Posted February 21, 2009 Love the picture and the Yeats quote you associated with it. If it wasn't for your description I would have thought of this as a post-Armageddon landscape. Cheers,J Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted February 22, 2009 Stephen, thank you for your comment; I really appreciate your comment. Fly, as always, you're just to kind. Reading your comments, is quite gratifying. Cheers, JP, nice of you to noticed it; I guess it has that apocalyptic look about it, interestingly though, no one up to your comment, had noticed it, or had care about it. Thank you, Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted February 26, 2009 Very close: Earth. This was taken in a place near the border between Arizona and Utah, in the USA, near Lake Powell. A wonderful place, to visit, and to take images that just seem out of this world. Thank you for your visit Igor, I really appreciate it. Cheers, Link to comment
Tanja 0 Posted February 26, 2009 Very striking image .... fantastic composition ....i love the color red, it brings more drama... Regards! :) Link to comment
nachosaezdeugarte 0 Posted March 3, 2009 Hola Juan Carlos. 7/7 y fuerte abrazo. Link to comment
Inmensa. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted March 4, 2009 The fire in the sky is disturbing, but thank you for providing us a little shelter. Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted March 7, 2009 Tatjana, drama was a major thought in my mind while working on this, I wanted to make it look as if something really meaningful, even devastating was taking place; while at the same time preserving as best as possible a sense of beauty and peace.......I still don't know if that's even possible though. Thank you for your visit and comment, I really appreciate them both. Andrew, Jef, thank you both for your comments. What a challenge is color, isn't it? I'm really fascinated by it, and the endless possibilities, it and a fairly descent software provide; it's really such a joy to be able to play hell somehow, with the truthfulness of colors. Saludos, Jeff, as usual you say too many things with so few words.......I'm really glad that you found this to be of your liking. It was an interesting experiment, on an old photograph, that I liked but felt was lacking something. A disturbing red light, or just an unsettling omen over the valley......whatever it takes to get the imagination running. ;) Link to comment
