It's great that you thought to take photos like this back in 1961. It's very interesting to see what people wore for this type of excursion in those days.

On the Blue Glacier of Mt. Olympus, Olympic Natl. Pk., 1961. Typical equipment of

the time: a newly developed synthetic rope, tied around the waist by a non-slip bowlin-

on-a-bight knot; leather boots with tie-on cramp-ons, wool socks; an ice-axe with an

ash-wood handle, clothing from Sears or J.C. Penney. From a restored Kodachrome

slide.
