scot_kelly 0 Posted November 15, 2002 This was taken with a Sony F707 as part of a outdoor comercial / art shoot with NY based model Emily Widner. I applied no fill flash or reflectors for this particular image. I would appreciate any and all comments & critiques. Thanks - Scot Link to comment
steve_strawn 0 Posted November 15, 2002 I'm not sure what you were looking for here, but with her hair over her face, it almost looks like she's covered with webbing or something. It is a bit strange. Link to comment
scot_kelly 0 Posted November 18, 2002 The site of the shoot is very dramatic texturally - glacial boulders covered with thick carpets of moss. The early morning light comes in streaks through the trees across the cliff face. The commercial aspect of the shoot was designed around stretching and sports poses. I like to experiment within a commercial shoot for my own book of work. In the sequence of shots that this image comes from, I placed Emily's face in the path of a direct beam of sunlight. Emily who is a very imaginative professional gave me some great looks with her hair placement. You are right that the image is strange. I was looking for a bit of "otherworldness". I thought the hair across the face with the dramatic focused lighting coupled with a soft focus could acheive this. In retrospect, I think the wardrobe could have been more complimentary for the mood. I think I would have deemphasized the legs by eliminating the sneakers and perhaps going with black tights. This would have brought more emphasis to the face and the highlighted crack in the rock face. Thanks for your comments - Scot Link to comment
