I have come to realize that HDR does not have to look like this (see portrait version of Maison melancon) - this was a choice to have it look like this. Most people will probably not like it but I am always interested in getting your reaction - don't be shy to tell me that you don't like it since i won't take it in any negative manner.

Tony, I am fascinated by this image. I think the effect makes it more interesting and dramatic. I especially like how the sky is managed. I like this technique, I wish I could figure out how to do it.

Photomatix is the software - you can find some good tutorials on the internet. Warm regards, PS this is the third time I am trying to write this - first time windows did an automatic reboot, 2nd time I lost the network and here it is the 3rd time. I wonder if there was a 'force' at work?

The effect here makes it very dramatic Tony. There is certainly a place for this image in my book as photography continues to evolve. Congrats!!!!!

Tony

Dramatic or maybe a bit spooky…I am not sure! I do like this and yes you are right, this won’t appeal to everyone. This is art and I like the technique you have used to process this.

Keep posting these!!

Best regards, Pamela

Wow Tony. It's highly impressive to me. As soon as I glance this when it was openning on my screen,Thomas K 's painting came to mind. Minus the lighted

windows. The character of the clouds made this mysteriuos too.

Thanks ! (;-)

Thanks for the thoughts - maybe it is the winter blues but I am at a crossroad with my image making and perhaps even my time here at PN - love photography and would like to continue making images I like. I am being drawn in slowly and reluctantly into the commercial world and then it comes down to whether there is a market for this stuff. I need to give these matters some thought.

Thanks for your comments - IMHO I think it is both spooky and perhaps dramatic- I intentionally reduced the color intensity to give it that feel. Maybe it could be used on scary movie cover.

Sally: I think you are aligned with Pamela with her thoughts on this image. Lawrence: thanks for the kind words. I may submit it for ratings but I know it is the type of image that will get an equal number of 3/3s and 6/6s

Tony... Certainly the first impression and operative word is dramatic and the sky is downright malevolent... all on first glance. However, contrary to that is the slight warmth around the windows and doors, the neighborhood and people in the background, and the hint of blue sky in the distance. All in all, another of your very thoughtful presentations, very well done... Mike

Thanks for the compliments and the generous 7/6 rating - both are very much appreciated. This is nothing that you can't do - download the photomatix software trial version and practice like I did. Warm regards,
