board," supposedly used by the nobles who lived in the castle above

the town (background, behind the clock tower).

The sky is a lovely color, and I like the concept. Something is bothering me though. Maybe if the man was a square closer, so that he was more in the foreground.

I wish I had another shot of this based on these comments. I also got a great idea for it after I got back from this trip -- he's in white, his wife was in black, it could have been the queen versus the pawn. Maybe the next time I go to Italy...anyone up for buying me a ticket?

enough detail in the places that matter makes this a very interesting shot. wouldn't have moved closer to the man either as it seems that the board is the real subject here, and the man in just there for scale. would've liked to see him closer to camera tho also.

As an artistic comment...To move the man CLOSER is not a problem as a few here believe. The first thing that caught my attention was the fact that he is casting a shadow on the subject, the board. For this to be a perfect shot(which doesn't take much) I suggest putting the man in front of the brighter light to our right. Then he would get that big dramatic shadow that accents the SUBJECT here.
