Peggy's Cove has a lot of these small pools that are great for

photography. I was quite proud of this shot as it turned out nearly

exactly as I visualized it. It's not an in-your-face landscape, but I

like the composition and would really like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for the feedback.

Kenneth: I'm trying very hard not to whittle but the large amounts of negative space at top and left are gnawing at me. I'll probably get over it but the lighthouse is just inside the point where I would put it which would be 1/3 down and 1/3 over.

In all other ways the image is beautifully timed and seen. The colors and chiaroscuro are fabulous. Did you have time to consider using the Cokin #173. If so, how do you think it would have affected the shot? I'm asking this so that I may learn further how to use that particular filter. The Polarizer and the warming effect filters are obvious to me but I'm still puzzling away at the #173 and where I might use it appropriately.

Again, an exceedingly lovely and well-timed exposure.

I have to agree with Fred on the cropping.

The sky and reflection are simply stunning to my eye. Superb! It has a richness and warmth...though I surmise it was a bit brisk this time of year.

Personally I haven't learned to feel comfortable with a wide angle shot at this kind of angle. I rather have the beautiful reflection, instead of the rock in shade, in my face. The color of warm early morning light mixed with the cool color of th sky is very nice. When I use polarizer, especially with wide angle lens, I tend to back off the polzrizing effect quite a bit, in order to minimize the need to burn in the (right upper corner in this shot) sky to get a better balance. Anyway, you image reminds me that it may be time for me to go back to NS for a 2nd visit.

A this unrolled I was very taken with the top part of the shot. The contrasts in colours between the brown rock and blue sky is great and I love the lighthouse sticking out of the horizon (albeit a bit central for my liking). By looking at the shadows it appears that you manipulated the colours and contrast as there are some odd bits around the top of the pool or is that a big patch of red litchen or something. I still think that the top 1/3 makes a great shot all on its own and I don't think the rest adds anything at all.

looks like 2 photographs (subjects): the bottom third (rocks in shade, reflection) deserve to have a pic for themselves, and are distracting.

Ken, The cool & warm tones work well together, the cool tones separated by the warm. The lines formed by the rocks lead the eye to the lighthouse at the top. The pools of water could keep a photographer busy for hours playing with the reflections. Looks like you did just that.

Nice touches of warmth to this very cool toned image. The only nit I have is with the spot of orange reflection in the top-middle of the water area.

I wouldn't like to see anything cropped from top because it would make the lighthouse feel cramped given its already foreshortened height.

Actually I would like to see some of the bottom and the left cropped out. Maybe a smidge off the top. Regards, Bernie
