This is very nice, the colour and detail are terrific. You must have been able to get fairly close to this one, I really like the tight composition.

Sandra.

Very nice shot. It looks like you caught it just as it was opening which is different from most lotus shots (including mine.) Very delicate colors and shadowing. Well done. -- Charles

Hi Janusz, Oskar, Bob, Jim and Charles-

Thank you all for the nice comments. I shot this using my 60mm macro lens and cropped the photo to make it square; a round subject fits better in a square hole than in a rectangular one. ; ) Four of my neighbors have beautiful water gardens that I patrol frequently in the warmer months. I caught this bloom in the right light at the right time. F/8 and be there (except I shot this at F/11 - that aperture didn't seem to blur the details much with this lens as far as I can tell)!

Nice shot, shadow bothers me a little, but not sure it could be avoided or eliminated. - Charles

PS: This was a second look. My previous comments still stand as to the quality of the shot. Just hadn't really noticed the shadow before.

Shadows in the center? No way to avoid with a single flash and the angle I was shooting from that I know of. Too late for nautral lighting. With twin strobes I probably could have eliminated the shadow, but it's not strong, and I think they add depth and a little interest.
