This is known as a trans-sonic vapor cone and occurs right before the

plane breaks the sound barrier with the correct atmospheric conditions.

Taken at Miramar MCAS. Comments are always appreciated. Nikon

I am thinking you might have been in a plane as well??? I have seen a photo like this only once before and it was not nearly as well done. My compliments

Best regards, Pamela

WoW! Awesome, our technology is incredible.I believe we lead the world in tech because of our strong belief in god and our common good that we do with it.

for example: send our aircraft carriers to Sri Lanka for fresh water that it can make from its massive on board converters of Sea water to fresh water

In Pakistan using gunships to supply the mountainous regions with needed meds and food after the devastating Earthquakes

and many other region of the world include our shores which we've had hurricanes, flood, tornado of great magnitude

I've rarely seen conditions good enough for a perfect Mach cone like this one- great capture, very clear and crisp too!

It occurs to me that you might have been flying a two plane formation, So, if you had the same model aircraft as in your photo, you might have had a similar vapor shock wave at the rear of your plane. If so, could you have seen it?

Do you estimate his speed was subsonic, sonic, or supersonic?

Truly great shot.
