billkantor 0 Posted January 30, 2009 Detail. 5077 dpi scan at 100%. About 600 feet away. A little soft I think. (It's the scan--the image is tack-sharp.) The image is also a bit under exposed to control the highlights. The noise in the image here shows because I put a curve on the image to boost shadow details. This would be a very large print--if the full image were printed at this size, it would be about 42 x 34 feet. Link to comment

Saadsalem 74 Posted January 30, 2009 very excellent composition, liked so much the opposite two angles where the most condensation of the colors are,and the gradual coloring of the sky,and this shot should be an a textbook example of the ROT. my very best. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted January 31, 2009 Exquisite colors, love the soft gradient in the sky with kind of echo in the foreground lines. Just curious: how large is a 48bit TIF hi-res scan file ? Link to comment
billkantor 0 Posted January 31, 2009 Hi Carsten, Nice to hear from you and thanks for your comments. The 48 bit TIFF of the whole image at 1100dpi (from which detail 2 is taken) is about 520MB. I scanned the tiny section of detail 1 at 5077dpi. If the entire image were scanned at that resolution, the file would be 2.5GB! Yikes. What would I do with that? Thinking of warmer days from Boston. Cheers, Bill Link to comment
