The lake is named after Guru Nanak, who is also known as Guru Dongmar.

It is located close to the Indo-China Border in the province of,

Sikkim, India. The lake remains completely frozen in the winter months

from November to Mid-May except for one small part of the lake which

is supposed to be touched and blessed by the Guru Nanak. According to

a legend, since the lake used to remain frozen all the time, it was

not possible to use it's water for drinking purposes, When the Guru

Padmasambhava passed by, the local residents approached him for

providing source of water in the area. The Guru obliged, a portion of

the lake touched by him does not freeze in the extreme winter. Thank

you for viewing.

Sonali, thanks for sharing this image and information. Lake Gurudongmar is not that well-known tourist spot. Thus the lake has retained is pristine beauty and serenity. Wish could see more details of the Himalayan range.

Cool image. Serenity at its best. Those cloud covered mountain peaks hv really added punch to the photograph.

This is very nice. I would maybe try to crop it a bit tighter (only one bit). Otherwise it's great. (and yeah, PS those shadows in the upper left corner)

Thank you my Dear Friends of PN for your constant support and observations.

@ Marek Kiedrowski -thank you for your feedback and I am sure your observations will help me to learn. Please feel free to share whatever your critique is.

Regarding this photo, the sky is not cloned, you are obviously mistaken there. Rather I would like to share the story of that day. When we had been on our way to Thangu the weather was absolutely windy and there was constant drizzle , we waited for a day, and the next morning weather was a bit better, we started for Gurudonmar and as we traveled up weather became more and more clear, but within an hour of our reaching Gurudongmar weather started changing and soon we saw the first snow fall of this winter.

My regards to everybody.
