t37traveler 0 Posted April 25, 2009 Janegbert- Thank you so much for the kind words and positive comments and ratings! They do help erase the slight "sting" of the "3" for lack originality someone pasted on this. Maybe if a deer had waded into the fish pond and I'd gotten a shot of it about to eat the water lily, or I captured a shot with space aliens landing their ship on the lily pad, the photo would have been deemed more "original" by someone. Thank goodness I didn't post a top view photo! As it was, I was lying on my stomach with the camera hanging over the edge of the pond. I thought the shot was attractive, and while certainly not the only water lily ever photographed from this angle, it was not entirely run-of-the-mill. Your comments and ratings, which I value and respect because you are a very accomplished, creative photographer, seem to confirm my thoughts. I only wish those anonymous originality nay-sayers would have the courage and take the time to share their suggestions on how to make this type of nature photo more "original." I'm really curious..... Link to comment

JimCowan 0 Posted April 26, 2009 Sandra, This is very nice, the central blossom being set apart because of its higher stem giving your image a more 3D effect. Link to comment

lesliejbng 0 Posted April 28, 2009 This is exceptionally beautiful. The lighting and colors are just wonderful I like the feel of the step down to the flower behind/below which makes for a original presentation.;) Kudos to you for getting right down to the level that brought forth this amazing image! :) Take care, Leslie Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted April 30, 2009 I like the clarity, very good DOF and the diagonal composition. Kudos are in order. I am fascinated with flowers which come in so many various forms and colors and I have many sitting on my files which I will not show here and probably not as good as this one. I try to study the ones like those by Roger Sonneland and others to get some inspiration. When all has been said and done, this is a very good image and definitely not deserving of a '3' for originality. Best regards Link to comment
t37traveler 0 Posted April 30, 2009 Tony - Thanks for positive feedback. I've always had a fondness for water lilies, especially the ones I used to see wild when I was a kid. Hopefully I'll get some more this summer.... these go back a couple of years. Link to comment
