gareth_harper 0 Posted November 13, 2002 There more I see of these B&W/colour combined shots the more I'm convinced that photos should be printed as either B&W or colour. While colour looks real and B&W often surreal the combination just looks unreal. It reckon it's going to be the big fad of the 00's like mad filters were in the late 70's early 80's. Having said all that, it's quite a pleasing portrait and would look good in straight B&W. Link to comment
nick_anderson 0 Posted November 13, 2002 Don't agree with the above. If you want to highlight a particular subject then it is a great technique but it won't rescue an average picture. If you were selling guitars or perhaps promoting a country singer this would be a great shot, otherwise I'm not so sure. The only real criticism is the way the models hat disappears into the shadow. You need to lift this out a bit or reshoot with a white hat. The choice of location is great, the wood gives nice texture and puts the musician in text (assuming he is country and not heavy metal!). tony_yarbrough 0 Posted November 14, 2002 Thank you both for your input. I'm still not so sure that I love or hate it myself - but needed to see it more than in my mind's eye. As a matter of fact, Mike pitched 5 songs to 3 recording contractors and they asked him for some publicity shots with his music. We cropped out most of the guitar neck but kept as much wood as we could. And gave them strictly b/w and the mix. And yes, Mike is Country. As for the hat, never even noticed it until we got the film back. My error! Link to comment
