very nice, wieslaw, the grey tones of the background. they give the sense of the cold, of the fog. At first, i disliked that you leaved something under the bridge, but then i thought is the "winning" idea (i hate how much i get tired in finding words in english, sorry if i seem primitive sometime). becouse this put away any suspect of graphism, and make this photo a real street, for me. ciao

thank you very much for sharing your thoughts about this photo.I took this shot at about 1pm and it was indeed really misty then, I liked the light and the fact that all the elements in the background were a bit flat and gave the solid contrast for the scene on the bridge.

That's strange because my first idea was also to cut off the space below the bridge just because the composition seemed somehow more pleasing to the eye. But finally I decided not to as imho a little air under the bridge gives the impression of instability of the girl's walk here (she is not so on a safe ground) and it works for me even though the composition may look a bit surprising now.

Andrea, your comments are always most welcome and your English is clear for me, really nothing to worry:)). Thank you and best regards, -wm

I love it! other way can be without the botton zone of the image- and title could be "from white to black" through all kind of grey tones... I add. Beautiful greyscale composition. Good work. Best Regards.

Wieslaw, this photograph is simply amazing. As already has been noted, it incorporates the entire B-W tonal range so effectively. Beautiful, subtle detail in the trees and buildings only heighten the viewer's focusing on the darker areas, and the person walking across the bridge. In my opinion, the area under the bridge adds to the rather mysterious mood the photograph creates.

Your work is outstanding. I am privileged to view it.

My best,

michael

What appears at first as a simple picture, almost a silhouette shadow play against a flat background, becomes far more subtle and rewarding upon closer inspection. It is a masterful work, perfectly composed and balanced in an understated way. I agree with the hint of detail under the bridge which softens the strong graphic qualities and helps to humanize the image.

To me this is an excellent street shot....its got good composition, wide tonal range and they both combine to capture the 'mood' of the moment. I'm pleased you did decide to leave the space under the bridge.......it adds to the isolation and vunerability of the lone figure.....

Ciao Wieslaw,

excellent timing and silhouette captured. Smart use of the vertical format to have this wonderful scale of tones. Beautiful moody and foggy atmosphere. Regards. Anna
