pensacolaphoto 15 Posted November 11, 2002 Hi Jeremy, The photo is nice overall, but I get the feeling that if you had slightly zoomed out it would have been better. The sky is also "too blue" without any clouds giving it a "painter's look". It looks painted :-) A third point would be the folowing. I would have moved the lens slightly towards the left to allow the water to stream outwards for a more natural look. Good work. Raid Amin Link to comment
nikonuserf100 0 Posted November 11, 2002 R.W. Amin's comments are interesting, but he may not have ever been to Yellowstone. First, the sky is that color. Moving the lens to the left would have put it into a cloud of steam. It looks good the way it is. As the weather becomes cooler, the steam is more of a photographic problem. Nice work. mmmee 0 Posted November 12, 2002 Makes me want to go there. Looks like wonderfull photo opportunities. I like the composition of this photo, and the colors. There is one little square white spot. Is that the plaque giving information on the river or on that particular spot? Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted January 3, 2003 Overall I like it. I think the mist in the back is a little overpowering though. With a negative, there might have been more information available to burn in up there but I'm not too sure about digital. I was curious to see if it was possible to make the mist look more dramatic so I hope you don't mind that I played around with your image a bit. I applied a contrast mask over certain areas and then burned in parts of the mask and then some parts of the final result. Only took about a minute. Overall, I'm not sure if I like the results better or worse. I do like some parts, like the increased detail in the white water and larger body of water. I posted the results in case your curious. Thanks for letting me play :) I disagree with the comment about the clouds. There is a lot of detail in the shot and I think the relatively smoother areas at the top and bottom help balance things out. Link to comment
tom_menegatos 0 Posted January 3, 2003 By the way, here's a smaller version so that it shows up inline. Link to comment
Jeremy Stein 0 Posted January 3, 2003 I agree with you, Tom. I like some of the reworked image better, especially the improved sharpness and better highlights of the stream down the hill. The rest of it is different, but not improved, I think. Thanks for the ideas. Link to comment
