Since you said you are new to birds photography I will give you some advice. I am not a pro and I am just starting to learn. When you shoot birds you will find out that no matter what lens you have, it is not long enough.

This shot looks very good to me BUT you have to crop otherwise your bird is lost in the picture. 99% of my bird shots are cropped. No shame on that.

Here I would recommend a big crop leaving space on the left and make it tight on the right.

You have to shoot wide open to isolate the subject and then sharp the image. Specially the best is to blur the BG very smoothly.
