I chose this photo to add my comments because it edged out the other great shots in your folder...but only by a slight margin. I'm sure if I were to look back at another time, I could very easily choose another as my favorite. I did notice that there is a synergy that makes the photos work better when viewed in the context of each other, i.e., when viewing the folder rather than individual shots. All in all, though, you've exhibited some distinguished work with a macro lens. One of the hardest things to overcome when shooting macros is the desire to show off your "technical skills" and the "sharpness of your lens" at the expense of creativity, perhaps for fear that someone might think the photo is soft by accident. It is evident, however, that the surreal and ethereal here is very deliberate.

One comment specific to this particular photo... I am not one to stick to the textbook rules, especially the "thou shall not center the subject" commandment; however in this case I believe the image might have been enhanced by framing the mushroom closer to the right. Other than allowing for the rule, it would have removed the dark clump in the lower right corner which only adds unnecessary weight to the otherwise light and airy atmosphere depicted in the rest of the image.

Nice shot! I like the blend of soft appearance and color.

This photo is interesting to look at, and caputres my interest.

Good composition too!

The color balance in this photo is nice. The bright orange occupies much less space than the green background but because of its greater perceptual brightness, the picture seems balanced. I admire anyone who can use color this effectively!

Nice shot, love the colours, but not as much as I love the lens issues on the left. I don't know if it's flare, or water drops (they look more like drops to me), but for once they really add to the shot. *applause*

The picture just pops. I agree that the use of color was superbly done. The page loaded, and all I said was 'wow.'

I hate mushrooms, but your photo brings out the charm in fungus. The color and depth of field are great - the water spot abberations are also notable. Fine work - on to your other photos. Wow - your portfolio is humbling - I think I will stick to something other than photography. You can make the simple sublime.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I have a print of this pic (only 10x8) and it's beautiful, graces my wall, illuminates my day. This is the only time I've given a photograph such a rating. Perfect.

From his portfolio, the photographer had not only successfully demonstrated he's an excellent technician, but showed us he's an outstanding artist as well.

Let me just chime in with my own complements on this photograph (and this folder as a whole). This is a wonderful shot--great depth of field, color and composition.

This folder reminds me of some photographs by Mark Oatney. Take a look and compare. I think his photos are technically/aesthetically very good.
