vonzo1974 0 Posted February 1, 2009 Great shot. This could sell some cold weather camping gear. It looks like you used a flash to light the foreground trees. Did you? I ask b/c that's definitely not something I would have thought of and the well lit trees in the foreground really add to this photo. Stay warm! Jason Link to comment

I used a 25 second exposure to ensure the trees in the background were appropriately exposed by the camp fire and I finished it off with a rear curtain flash so that the trees in the foreground were not just a silhouette. The flash also added a little contrast to the snow on the ground. You can just make out my wife and 7 year old son in the bottom left of the photo, and our tent is behind them. Link to comment
