jenkins 0 Posted January 15, 2009 I found this abandoned shoe in the shipyard on the Cape Fear River. Link to comment
katinkagoffin 0 Posted January 15, 2009 Beautifully executed. I'm not sure if I would have had such a large part of that unfocused plant in the lower left corner in the shot, but at the same time it strengthens the impact of the shoe. The shoe is very powerful, it makes one think about the mysteries around it; how did the little boy or girl manage to lose his or her shoe, is an example. A lot of scenarios pop into ones mind.. Well, it did with me anyway (and I just assumed the shoe was a child's, that's what it looks like from here..). A very good picture. Link to comment
jenkins 0 Posted January 16, 2009 Thank you for your comments Katinka Its actually a shoe that has a very large heel, the type that were around in the 1970's, i have always been curious about items of clothing laying in the streets, back in my home City of London i would see a stocking or a skirt laying in the gutter of side walk, why? how? I understand you comment about the plant in the foreground, i thought it might give a sense of depth to the picture, it would be quite bleak otherwise. There is another picture of the shoe in my portfolio Cheers Simon Link to comment

peternientied 0 Posted January 16, 2009 It's nice, creates question..and that is a quality of pictures. I wonder if the picture work better if you would cropt it on the right and bottom, the shoe not in the centre but at 1/3 rd - 1/3rd. Maybe. regards Peter Link to comment
stevecarlson 0 Posted March 15, 2009 I think that the photo gives a feel of abandonment, in which works with the whole photo uncroped, well done thank you for sharing Steve Link to comment
aplumpton 16 Posted August 18, 2010 I find photos like this fascinating. It is really well done (focus, isolation of key subject, mystery of the background maintained by the slight blur, sepia effect). What is great is the fact that it could be many things, and can alternately provide a feeling of fantasy, of humour, or even disaster, and so works on several planes at once. Bravo, Simon.
