The point was capturing some interesting architectural detail.

I do not really understand what you are trying to get at. Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but these very short comments really make it difficult to see what you might be trying to tell me. You may not intend it, but it seems very much as if you are annoyed with me?

 

I know what I think about this picture. What specifically do you think is wrong with it, and how do you think it might be improved?

There is nothing really interesting in this shot. good light, angle, composition are missing. Try to think about the feelings you want to get in this Arch.

What I had intended on taking it was to convey its massive, domineering presence and to capture the martial sculpture on the front of it. I can see now that that was not, in fact, what others perceive.

If you want it massive, maybe a shot from the ground with a wide angle lens can work.
