matman1975 0 Posted January 9, 2009 Hyenas are formidable hunters (not strictly scavengers as many people think) with great stamina, strength and determination. They eat their prey alive (!!) cause unlike their rivals, the big cats, they don't have the ability to instantly kill their victim through suffication. They start with the legs (so that the prey can't escape) and progressively continue till only hornes and hooves remain. A single hyena can consune around 20kg of meat in a single meal...they eat that much cause they don't know if and when there is going to be a next meal!
