Surface Tension

gordonjb

Shot using on-board flash with a home made diffuser. The top half of the diffuser was blocked with black tape in an attempt to have the flash affect the bottom of the frame more than the top. Tripod mounted camera slow shutter.

Odd that i got the first comment for this one... This kind of Masterpiece should get more attention. "Nature Photography at it's best"

The thing you did with the water and how you still managed to get some colours there, looks awesome. Especially i like how it darkens while going to the top of the photo.

Tero;

From the three flash experiments I uploaded at once, this one is my favourite.

I used a homemade diffuse over the flash and I blocked off the top half of it with black tape. My hope was that less light would fall on the top half so more of the surface motion would be seen and less of the sharpness of the leaves at the bottom of the stream would come through. What I had not accounted for was the different angle the light would strike the surface at and the amount of reflected light that would bounce off of the surface at the top. Still it worked out sort of as planned :-) I am glad you stopped by to let me know you like this.

I keep checking back on your page awaiting the results of your latest experiments.

Fred;

Thanks for the comment. The flash was set very low and was intended to create a stop action effect on the foreground.
