you've got it almost right. The expression and lighting are priceless, and the focus on the hands and eyes is great, but the DOF should be extended to include rest of face and hair. Very good indeed.

Thank you, for all of the input! I really do appreciate it. I think a lot of people are worried about hurting feelings! As much as I like the praise, my main focus is always more on the negatives, or things to work on!

 

its a nice picture. great mood n composition. when the background is dark you can go for a full DOF and a portrait format is a better option IMHO.

What a beautiful B&W portrait...a real gem. The look of wonder in her eyes is truly amazing...great natural feel to the lighting....her hand placement adds character and interest...great job.
