I love this! The only thing that would make it better would be the absence of the green sign and the pole over his shoulder. So you are Bison Photography now??

Thank you very much, Tammy. I need to tune up the logo a bit. When it's larger and sharper you can see the bison.

Hi Kim, Thank you. You're too sharp. You never miss a detail. I had to start collecting sales tax so I am. (...need some portraits done?). I couldn't show the detail of the road sign but it needed to be in the photo since it had local significance. I would change the telephone pole. I think it needs to be there but more of it. Where it is, I don't like too much either. A high line pole just says, travel and is very road worthy. Don't you agree. Ever listen to Merle Haggard? (Ramblin' Fever ) I think I have that...

Glad ya'll stopped by, my friends. ~Sky

You're doing portraits for pay now??? Whoooeeee, congratulations!! I'm working on marketing my photo greeting cards around here, but my accountant says I don't have to worry about being an official business for a few hundred more dollars:~)....but when I do (and I've already bought the domain)....I will officially be Lizard Song Images...now being the sweet romantic that you are, you probably didn't even roll your eyes like a lot of people will!

Nice shot! Those seniors can be a challenge to get to smile...Thats a serious cowboy...! may I suggest fill flash on a shot like this to bring out those handsome eyes? The green street sign is ok...better if it had a little room from his back...but in my opinion there is not enough of the pole coming out of his shoulder to draw significance to the open road...I would clone that sucker out...;<) One of the most important things to me about being a portrait photographer is a good rapport with your subjects...I have no doubts that you'll kick some Bison butt...Your subjects show a confidence that is your heart...I look forward to seeing more...sometimes shooting for pay can change the joy of doing our art...Your attitude will keep that from happening....I have confidence in that...! f8 and don't be late!

Kim, you're right, I didn't even roll my eyes. That's a cool name! In Texas we have to have a DBA and right away because some of our tax collectors can be pretty agressive and that's a problem I didn't need. It's smart saving your domain this early. I'm still after one that is already gone.

Juan, I agree on every count with this image and appreciate all of your advice and encouragement. I guess it's the PJ in me that always makes me hesitate editing out objects but when I do, I always like it more. I've been letting the customer decide and add a slight charge depending on how much is needed. I agree with fill, sometimes I remember and this time I didn't. I am grateful for your taking time to educate. That alone helps me remember. Hope you and Eddie are doing well.

Hey Janis, you go girl. A boat wedding. Boost your shutter speed as much as your aperture and flash will allow if the water is rough or it's a small boat. It probably won't be that critical, Oh yea, take your dramamine and bring a backup camera or be ready to borrow one if you run into trouble. Charge your batteries up and stay clear of the mother-in-law.

Fabulous shot. I would CASH in on that. Minor distraction is that vertical line over his shoulder that I would clone out. I am OK with the green sign.

What a street shot (pun intended)! The pose is great! I like the the street sign in the background; I see it as a bit of a hint about being at a crossroads - isn't that where most musicians usually are? Maybe this one's on his way to Georgia...It looks like it's spring and the road stretches on in front, the highway to....?? The light shade of gray prevents it from being overwhelming. The lighting is well done. The work is an excellent portrait of a young musician and his walk through life just beginning.... very allegorical if you want to get that deep. Yet you keep it from being trite - this piece has a freshness about it. I look at the way the musician's hand grips the guitar neck and the expression on his face and see confidence and determination. The photo gives off a "good vibe." This would make a fantastic magazine cover... have you contacted Levis? : ) (PS - I agree about getting rid of the little pole, cell tower or whatever it is that pokes out behind the shoulder - developing an eye for little "undesirable"details like this and eliminating them will really help improve your compositions.

Oh, the joys and hope of youth. Well seen. I'd love to revisit this in a few years to see where the path is taken him.

Hi Margaret, Yes staying young seems to get more difficult the older I get.

This young man has joined the military. Hopefully he'll have a bright future. He plays the guiter very well. I'm glad for your visit. ~Sky
