... is the foliage too dark? I could definitely try a more

sophisticated approach to varying the levels overall but this is

pretty close to what the original transparency looks like.

Stunning!! The colours are great.

I don't think that the foliage is too dark. Sure, you could make it brighter, but for me it is especially the contrast between the (sunlit?) sand and the dark foliage that makes this picture.

If you want to suggest something like cropping or different color correction, please feel free to post a small version with your changes applied so that we can see what you're talking about! :-)

The sky makes it! I love it!

I love the way the light is reflected (in the highlights) off of the breaking waves and the beach. I would guess that the irregular shapes of the beachline is the subject of this photo, taken at a time when the lighting was exceptionally memorable.

 

There is too much reflected light in the image in order for this to be your typical stormy beach. (It actually looks safe!)

 

Way to go!

I think the whole image needs to be lighter. Also the cliff

in the bottom is even more distracting then the in the

href="http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=107418">first photo

. But it's overall a good image.
