b_turner 0 Posted December 17, 2008 Experimenting with hue shifting and desaturation. Likes, dislikes, impressions, etc? Link to comment
wood 1 Posted December 17, 2008 I like this a great deal and I'm surprised that no one has commented so far. As a fan of tree photos, I pay attention to these on PN but have not seen anything similar. The high contrast and desaturated colors work beautifully together. A very nice piece of work. beartooth1 0 Posted December 17, 2008 I would agree with Robert....The only thing that would make it more interesting is if the tree were off center a bit....Congrats Link to comment
wood 1 Posted December 17, 2008 I initially had the same idea as Ken, but I think I prefer the centered composition. But I can't really explain why. Perhaps, with the off-centered composition, it has something to do with the black tree potentially drawing my eye away to one side and ignoring the pastel hills. With this composition, I am drawn to the center immediately and then my eyes explore all of the surrounding areas equally before being drawn back to the tree. I just re-read what I wrote and am not sure it makes sense, but I still prefer the centered composition. Link to comment
guy_tzumer 0 Posted December 18, 2008 it's a strong shot, seems to be an empty landscape that break with the presence of the tree. Link to comment
b_turner 0 Posted February 11, 2009 Robert - I took another look myself, I think I figured out why. The whole image is symmetrical - not a mirror image, the background hills are rather quasi-mirror symmetry. Perhaps that is what helps catch the eye? Link to comment
