waynemorgan 0 Posted October 31, 2002 I was actually looking for a big maple tree that was turning red. There were several big ones that were very pretty but they were all in front of houses so it was impossible to get just the tree. Is composition here OK? Link to comment
peterneibert 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Wayne, when the sky is kinda nothing like this, then I would look for ways to minimize it or avoid it altogether. Given the red maple as primary subject, I would probably move toward the left, stand on my tippy toes (if you use a step ladder, Schwaiger will make fun of you) to shoot back toward the right with the tall, green trees as the dominant background -- hopefully obscuring the sky. The bench is an interesting element that needs to be controlled. If it gets plopped exactly in the center, then it competes with the red maple, but not in a good way. So, by moving to the left and shooting to the right, then the bench may come close to the left border of the frame, and the the red maple may assume its place of prominence in front of the taller green ones in the background. fred_j._lord 0 Posted November 1, 2002 Wayne: Sorry, I just got carried away! The only real, legitimate comment is that the image is too centered and symmetrical. I like Peter's comments for what would be a genuine improvement. Link to comment
waynemorgan 0 Posted November 1, 2002 I figured out how to change the sky to match what Fred did. I did a small crop from the original. Bench is still probably to close to center but I like it better than original Link to comment
stephen_lau1 0 Posted November 2, 2002 Since you have already recieved a lot of good comments, I am only going to suggest that you may want to go easy on the sharpening as this image looks a bit over sharpened. Link to comment
alex marsaud 0 Posted November 3, 2002 This one is rather humourous. I can't swipe off this grin that appeared on my face looking at it. I think it comes from the bench that appears to be posing in a quasi human way. Nice warm colours. The sky colour is strange to me for some reason... Link to comment
