paul_nicol 0 Posted October 29, 2002 To me the picture doesnt work. It looks as if the model is bending her head down to fit in the picture and is looking awkward in doing so. If the picture is about the model then give her more room or a more comfortable position. If its about the pendant then you could move in closer removing more of the model, maybe just showing her chin or neck only. Find a singular theme to build on and let the secondary themes take more of a backseat so to speak. With no clear-cut point of interest more viewers (I think) will have trouble with the picture. My two cents worth Link to comment
ricardojmendez 0 Posted November 4, 2002 There are some thing about the photo that I like (the radius of folds from her shirt, the way the necklace centers and weighs the image, even light with just enough shadows to add depth), but the boxed-in framing and her blank expression don't do it for me. Looking at what hair is visible, it seems like there was a lot of movement in this photograph that we are not seeing, movement that was constrained by the cropping. As Paul mentioned, it looks awkward. Link to comment
carl_williams 0 Posted December 16, 2002 I wouldn't call it a blank expression (ref. comment above). Far less blank than the average, inane "pouting girl (nude)" photo which seems so popular elsewhere. This looks more calm and mysterious, I would have said, and I like the lighting, lines and composition. OK it's tightly cropped in a way which makes it look un-balanced if you're expecting a stock head-and-shoulders portrait, but that's what made me look at it for longer, and see the pleasing repetition of shapes. I find it quite compelling, and far more interesting than the more conventional head-and-shoulders shot in this folder. Link to comment
