Aside from the subject matter (which is great), I am continually struck by your distinctive use of tone to shift the affect of the image in subtle and unconventional ways. I thought the comments of the gentleman on "The Future Is Unwritten" somehow missed your intent. Any examination of your portfolio will reveal that the use of various tone effects in your photographs is in no way accidental.

The boy is absorbed in his music, while the intense stare of the dog grips the viewer. The cup shows the purpose.

This is a capture full of warmth and reality.

A very small quibble. The tones of the boy's arms and hand somehow don't seem to match his face. They don't look quite true.

Your work is consistently rich and complex, with a warmth that goes straight to the heart of the human comedy. This is a prime example. As for the tones, they remind me of a lovely old paper that Agfa used to sell called Portriga.

how could i have missed this so far? well, then again, i could ask the same question about every image of yours i havent commented yet. however, this would fit well into erwitts collection of images; i especially love the dogs ears, they seem to be listening to his music. simply a lovely shot!

very appealing, and not just the subject, the treatment...but i would have to agree with the earlier critiquer about the variation of tone in the face and arm...very noticeable...still a beautiful and charming photograph

Another classic. Last time I took a picture of a busker and did not contribute to the kitty....(alas, I had no money at the time), he proceeded to chase me down the street. This is music to my eyes.

I would put this among the best street shots. So well caught a moment, emotional and expressive, just an example of a decisive moment in a sense of clicking at the very right moment.

i always appreciate reading your words -- and thank you so much for writing them...

the unbalance in the skin tone is now addressed.
