johne37179 29 Posted December 13, 2008 While not spectacular in the sense that the Grand Canyon is spectacular, it is an absolutely wonderful image that truly captures the sense of the place. I think that those who have rated this image low, simply overlook the mission here. I'll bet a mundane image of a spectacular scene would get higher ratings from them. I think this is a classic image of a classic place. This is the sort of place when seen by the side of the road, no one stops to really appreciate the beauty found in places like this. You could spend days exploring a half acre of this landscape and not come close to finding all the beauty and magic there is in such places. Thanks for sharing it. Link to comment
dinesh.godavarty 0 Posted December 16, 2008 Thanks Michael. John, thanks for the insightful comments. You are absolutely correct in what I was trying to capture. In fact, I had driven by this place for two days before realizing that I could possibly get some pictures here! I have other shots, but I felt this was the strongest. Link to comment
johne37179 29 Posted December 17, 2008 You are more than welcome. The thanks is really mine to you for bringing us this image. I'm drawn to images like this. It is so easy to point a camera at a sunset. It takes talent and effort to find beauty in the places we see every day. When I taught photography I always had a couple of exercises that were directed to finding the beauty in a view of the mundane. Over the years these exercises did two things: They produced the best images and separated the real talent from the wannabees. Link to comment
