Guest Guest Posted December 13, 2008 "like your interpretation of this one" I did not interpret this one. Telling you I respond to it visually is talking about my reaction, not giving an interpretation. Telling you (which I didn't, and also don't believe) the little figures represent the dualities or oppositions in life or that the photographer who shot this seems like she must be a joyful woman intimately connected with dance, or that this represents human life relationships would be interpreting it. I think there's a difference between these three things when discussing photos: 1) how we look at a photo, 2) what we see when we look at one, and 3) what the meaning of what we see is. To me, these are important distinctions and they are important distinctions both to photographers and to those who critique. I talked about 1 and 2. "Interpretation" and your discussion of the photo included 3. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 13, 2008 You are right , but it is again a language barrier misunderstanding ,as I used the word " interpretation" and meant to say the way you saw it, on a visual level... Sorry for not being accurate.... I agree with you about the differences. You are more fluent and eloquent....but I also talked about my way of refering to photos seeing them and interpreting them, and it can be ,and probably is different from your way, but I agree with your differentiation.
