Thank you Martin and the others who have taken the time to view and rate. I'd be interested to know what it is about this photograph that leads you to either "Love it..." as Martin did or find it average as the ratings suggest many of you have. I really am curious to hear your thoughts, not just your numbers. We all have something to learn from your opinions, including me.

Great colors and contrast!! Very soft, inviting feeling. It's probably just me, but I think your horizon might dip down the left just a hair... It's more likely that it's the colors of the rainbow throwing it off just a tad, because the rocky barrier looks just fine. Speaking of the rocks though, well done capturing detail!! Your spacial awareness is well put together. The sky does not appear to take over the entire photo. And the sailboat has plenty of travel space. I think this photo would make for a great poster print.

On the comment you made about your ratings... I feel the ratings are highly ineffective. Mainly because people rarely ever give any input as to why they rate the way they do, good and bad. That's why I submit my photos for critique only. The last 2 I posted I forgot to check the box, and I ended up with a few average ratings with no real comments or suggestions. Ratings also seem to be really fad-ish. Meaning right now HDR photos seem to do really well, while someone with a different shooting style gets looked down upon. My suggestion would be just to not let it get to you. And always take everything thing said with grain of salt... :)

Keep up the great work!!

Doh! It's not just you, the horizon dips :( How did I miss that? Thank you so much for taking the time to give me your input. I've learned to not be offended or overjoyed by the ratings, I just use them to sort of take the temperature of the "3/3 anon" masses on a certain style or technique. I haven't subjected an HDR to the ratings treadmill just yet, I guess I'll wait until I need a huge ego boost.
