newbie1 0 Posted December 8, 2008 THIS is really my first attempt at street photography. These were shot in San Francisco in the Market Mission area. After getting a few uncomfortable looks I chose to leave the darkest of streets and to try again another day when I have a buddy tagging along, ( to keep an eye on me). Link to comment

newbie1 0 Posted December 9, 2008 the light in the background was the sun shining down brightly between tall buildings at that point and time. I focused on the girl and set my exposure for the girl, leaving the background overexposed, or showing the brightness of the sun light. Link to comment
acarodp 0 Posted December 9, 2008 You got a very effective image here, and possibly some luck (but luck helps the ones who do not keep the lens cap on as they say :-) : The girl is beautiful, the bright backdrop is ideal to have her stand out, and there are two more elements that help I think: first, the light/dark difference in the dress that adds a lot to the graphical impact, and second, the motion blur of the feet that gives movement to the image. Really well done! L. Link to comment
newbie1 0 Posted December 9, 2008 She was as if an angel walked into my lens. When I saw her walking towards me out of the light I just had to shoot and shoot and shoot. All photos that day were shot in BW as I was making my first attempt at street photos in the bad area of market street SF and love BW photos. I still cant get my eyes off of her and the photo. timwise 0 Posted January 4, 2009 I don't want to critique this photo as not to give you advice because I am new to this but the picture is very interesting to look at. I also have wondered how I would be percieved while out taking photos. I am a big guy so I don't get to many problems from other people but I don't want to invite trouble either. Great photo. aarkp 2 Posted June 16, 2009 I love this photograph. The obscuring mists of distant sunshine and the revealing clarity of proximate shadows. MarketMission or Tenderloin, New York City or Ahmedabad (where I live), issues are the same -- manifestations differ. I live in Gujarat, one of the sates of the Union of India. In my thirty-odd years of residence here I have found one continuing dream amongst its people: the desire to migrate to America. The allure of the distant mists... A few years back I happened to be alone in San Francisco on Thanksgiving Day. I had heard a lot about the great Sales held on that day. I entered a department store. Everyone seemed to be running in one direction only -- young and old, more women than men perhaps. Curious, I ambled after them. There seemed to be a struggle going on, a blur of bodies. Approaching closer I saw people snatching at scarves. With some of the scarves it was a see-saw battle, the more determined or the stronger arm winning. Quite a sight. But a familiar one in a different context... Link to comment
