Nice Capture, love the snow flakes, But its a House Finch, the Purple does not have the brown streaks on it's flanks nor the white spot on the wing.

Lovely picture Don except your focus is just a little short of covering the pretty fellow. The part of the branch and bird's body is in sharp focus but the other half is disappointingly blurred.

This is a great pose and nice exposure! Such small birds, however, need deeper DOF - the patrially defocussed branch and feathers do detract. The rule of getting a highlight on a focussed eye is obeyed but the overall defocus spoils it. And yes, it is a house finch not a purple finch.
