Nice nice pic. - Love the blue tones. Although there is one "but". The middle ice thing should not break the waterfall (you should maybe have removed it) - just my oppinion...

Very good composition, nice cool strong colors, very good tonality, I personally think the middle "wavy" piece and smooth flow of the water, create strong, eye-catching contrast

I disagree with Michael; the prominent icicle in the center seems to be the main subject of the photograph, and rightfully so -- its textures are by far the most interesting thing in this shot. The flowing water is a great backdrop but is not strong enough to carry this photo, nor, from what I can see, was it ever intended to be.

I reconize this as the same icicle from another photo in the same folder. I definitely prefer this shot; much stronger.

My one "but": the piece of ice in the lower left corner should go; it's a little distracting and it's outside your field of focus. From what I can see, it could be cropped out without detracting from the rest of the shot.

Thanks to all for your lovely comments. It's really motivating to receive responses like this. In fact its all the heat I need to go out in the freezing cold again :) As for any correction in composition, that lower left corner (as Christian pointed out) was my one stumbling block to. As I got used to it, I decided that it plays an important part in the overall expression of the image.

I have to agree with the majority. The center icicle is the focus of the image and it is perfectly rendered against the blurred background.I love the 35mmm full frame effect as it accentuates the verticle nature of the shot but the very blurred lower left definatly adds another "layer" above the sharply focused foreground and should be cropped to out. To save the verticle framing you seem to want to keep; I don't think that losing a little on the right hand side would hurt at all!

I think Michael's outnumbered. That middle shard of ice is necessary for contrast and for point of interest. I was drawn to it; then my eyes moved around the picture - noticing the smooth flow of the waterfall last... but then returning to that very cool icicle!

I think the lower left ice blur helps the image, only it shouldn't be so blurry, but should be the same focus as the upper cloudy piece of ice. Maybe a second shot would focus on the near piece, and use just enough DOF to get the clear ice in focus.

I cannot see changing anything. Beautifully done. The ice on the sides seem to frame the waterfall. Good contrast. I don't mind the icicle covering part of the waterfall as this one accents the downward flow of the background water. The lower left corner ice has interesting shades in it and almost the same shape as the darker area in front of it. Cool! (Somebody had to say it)

Beautiful image. I agree with Christian's comment about the blurred icicle on the lower left corner. Love the texture on the main icicle. Good composition, I like how you have framed the left and right sides with icicles and the background of flowing water works well.

In an ideal world I would surely have gone back and re-shoot, and left out or used a greater dof to enhance that left corner. Our fantastic nature has a way of chancing everything on a daily basis, and therefore leaving this moment lost in time, but captured as it stands on my film ;) I do have some shots that are tighter and more focused on the main icicle, Maybe I'll post one later.

Thanks again to all for all your inspiring words, and for taking the time to look at my image.
