Trying to learn lessons in this very new (to me) genre. Critiques and comments are

much appreciated.

This is out of my usual experience so sorry if I can't contribute anything meaningful, but I am interested in learning how you got involved in the genre..? Looks like a studio environment too.

Oh well, your contribution was actually all that counted for me to have this result. :)

 

I took it in color, copied and pasted RGB channels separately as layers, made adjustments, controlled opacity of each layer and merged them- that I learned from you and Leslie.

 

For the new genre, I felt that it's not very easy to find photo opportunities around here (people, landscape, steets, whatever except for still lifes), so I signed up for a photography meetup (at http://www.meetup.com) and attended one of the workshops. Pretty simple, huh. :) Maybe it's a timely move since PN is turning into a huge collection of nude photography.. (sigh..) Nothing against nudes, but it seems that we are losing diversity here.

Great idea to diversify. Looks interesting too! Too bad in a way; the best and quickest way to learn is to have ready access to your own model. :-)

A lovely sculptural pose this is... Very nice indeed! You lament the lack of diversity... I also post on photopoints.com and it has much more diversity. Many of the photographers are not as polished but it is a much smaller community and one gets many more comments to my mind. Here it seems the only images of mine that get comments are my nudes (which I confess are the bulk of my work) and that gets rather tiresome... Also they don't seem to be soooooooooo nit picky. I rarely post for crit here anymore and mainly use p nut as a place to put a large portfolio. On P.P. you can only post 10 images a week, all for crit, and I find that I post only one daily and wait to see what feedback I get from the one before posting another... It too is only $25 a year for unlimited space but with the above mentioned proviso of only 10 posts a week. Take a peek...

Thank you for stopping by. Also thank you very much for your thoughtful words. I think I should take some of my words back- depending on how I set up the gallery browse criteria, I can still see diverse photos (how dumb i was..). :) But I will do check the website you mentioned.

Ugh, actually I have A LOT MORE... And have A LOT EVEN MORE from another workshop but didn't have time to go back and edit them. I don't know why I am suddenly overwhelmed by work lately. Or am I converging to a life of a typical Asian man in his 40s- all work and no personal life?

I don't know, K, but it's good to try balancing ones life - shouldn't be too difficult given this type of subject! :-)
