I know, I know ... it's been done ... a zillion times already. But I LOVE this view of the Brooklyn Bridge. And it was such a beautiful day... :-) And this is my personal favorite of the images that I brought back from my short trip to NY. Your thoughts?

I like it too, Lou Ann. It would be my favorite as well if I took the picture! The perspective distortion looks great with the criss crossing cables.

Well done, Lou Ann. It may have been shot many times before, but now YOU'VE done it, so it will be that much more special for you to look at over and over.

Lou ann, this is the first image of yours I have seen since i have resumed using this site. Others may have seen this image many times but it is a first for me. I really like the composure, central symetry, interesting lines of the cables and the runner to give some sense of scale. The clouds pull you into the frame... lead you down to the skyline and accross the declination of building heights.. a nice almost "z" pattern. I think you were right to use B&W for it as the color would most likely detract rather than add too the lines and symetry.

Nice shot

Since I own this bridge (bought it when I was visiting NYC in 1965 from the previous owner for $100 - what a sucker he was!) I feel you should now pay me a fee for photographing it. My price: coffee & donuts should our paths ever cross. Silliness aside this is indeed a nice image. I'm usually first in line to say " I'd like to see a B&W version of this one...." but this time I'm curious about the colour version. I'm sure it's more graphically portrayed in B&W but I'll bet it's still a stunner with deep blue skies & those fluffy white clouds. Nice to have both options. Best, LM.

Len - funny, a non-photographer friend of mine and I just had a conversation about this yesterday. She insisted that the color version is more interesting. And, also funny, the jogger in the shot ruins the color version, in my opinion, because his jogging shorts are NEON orange! I have desaturated them so that they don't distract. :-)

Very interesting in color, Lou Ann. Glad Len brought it up for discussion.

I find the B/W looks more "artsy" but the slight excess Red channel gives it an almost Infrared appearance. Maybe just a tad more blue.

I like the B&W, although both versions are great! Hey, I owe you an email, which I'll do soon, I promise. Things have been topsy-turvy here for quite awhile. But I did want to wish you and your family a very Happy Holiday! All the best to you in 2009, and I'll look forward to more of your great photos!

Hello Lou Ann... great B&W composition. It's drmatic and warm. The colored

one is just an ordinary composition to me.

Thanks for sharing.

Have a great 2009!

By the way, you got a warm portrait and you got a charming laugh. :-)

Super shot!!! great perspective and wonderfully geometric. Love the dramatic sky and the way all the structures seem to be leaning backward.
