bring1 0 Posted February 16, 2009 Looking to learn, and would appreciate any comments you may have. Thanks,Bruce Link to comment
GerrySiegel 868 Posted February 17, 2009 A good, almost panoramic perspective. It might even be better as a panoramic stitched long photo although that is beyond my particular expertise, but if one is going wide one might consider going dashingly wide wide. I like the texture of the bridge towers and wish the masonry were just a little tiny bit sharper and maybe just a touch contrastier. Otherwise, very nice color compliments and nice balance to the land, bridge, and canal in the proportion of this old city of Strasbourg; captures the feel of a place I hope to visit one day...I wish you well, gs Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted February 18, 2009 I too think this is a very good photo. The towers being a bit sharper would make this a 7. Nice shot. Regards, Holger Link to comment
bring1 0 Posted February 19, 2009 Gerry and Holger: Thank you so much for taking the time to comment upon my photo from my trip to Strasbourg. I do agree that the towers should be in sharper focus. I hope to be able to go back some day and retake this photograph. When I took this in May of 2007, I had only had my D200, my first DSLR, for about 2 weeks and was just starting to learn to use it. At that time I was shooting in full program mode. The camera set itself for F7.1 and 1/180 of a second. The light was getting low, and I was handheld. The panoramic "nature" of this photo is due to my cropping it in Photoshop. I also processed the photo largely using Curves and some saturation and luminance adjustments. The original is here http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=8619969. Part of my love of this photo has to do with it being my first "success" with Photoshop, which I just purchased and started using a year ago. Thanks again for taking the time to provide me your thoughts! Best Regards, Bruce Link to comment
