mike_sea 0 Posted October 23, 2002 Hi Graham, You have chosen a difficult subject matter indeed. For this work, it can be very satisfying however it must be pefect in every detail to get there. Graham, I am not trying to offend you with my comments. There are many shots I wouldn't take the same line with but always comment on this difficcult type of work the same way - with an attitude of perfection being the goal. Firstly, the shade is not perfectly formed, the right hand edge is very crooked. I can't tell if this is because of electronic manipulation or not but it really cathes my eye. The cropping isn't balanced. The shot is sort of in between things. Not quite the middle and not using the rule of thirds fiormula. This one issue will add much to the way the eye perceives this shot. Finally, this may be a matter of opinion. tThe dark pinstripe of shade on the front. If this was intendeded, I would have put it either dead centre or once again useing the rule of thirds, place it a fraction further over dividing the top line of the shade into a 2/3 - 1/3 split. To leave you with a positive note, I really like the colour blend you have chosen here as they clearly compliment each other. Link to comment
