This is a great image. Nicely composed, great color - well executed shot. I have been taught (in a drawing class) that lines that are parallel to the edges of the frame are not as effective as if they are diagonal. If you would have turned the leaf a little get a diagonal maybe this image would be even better.

This is a simple shot, but I find extremely well composed and very beautiful - except for one thing... and that would be the post-production after a weak scan maybe... Of course it may be my monitor, but I found the original basically laking contrast and dynamic range, a bit too dark and a bit too blue.

I just wanted to see it with better colors and here is the result. I hope it will look as good on other monitors as on mine. If not, you may want to amend once more. Regards.

I have a bad eye for color, and I never would have seen that tint, but side by side...how could you say it's not better when removed. John Orr did a shot similar to this with one leaf.

I hope John McLaine sees this. He's about the best water motion photographer I've seen sitewide.

I personally like the blue tint. It gives a more dreamy/surreal look.

Not that I've ever taken a picture as good at this, but the only thing I would change is to move the main rock closer to the right of the frame.

Great picture.

I don't like the blue tint. Color casts are usually on images like this because the creator has not learned how to remove them. The cast removal and levels or curves adjustment to snap the contrast are definite improvements to what was a good image to start. Almost any image has some flaws in it. The purpose of a critique is to find whats good and what could use improvement. Thus we learn, improve the image and our photographic skills are honed. Good critique Marc.

I think Marc's version has a bit more pop and attests to his eye for color. It's fun debating how we might have recomposed this. I always manage to get at least one foot wet and a terrible cramp in my back from twisting and contorting around boulders in order to get the "perfect" shot. Once in a great while my efforts are slightly rewarded. This is a very pleasing image.
