This is a good photo.

I would lighten the scene, the colors and tones are a little dark. I like the composition with the rail leading the viewer into the scene. But I would have moved my position a little so the post in center underneath your main subject trees more to the left of the frame allowing the viewer to see where the tree is rooted. As I look at it again it is very unique how the tree trunks line up with the post. I would lighten the trees and rail by 1/2 to 2/3 stop more to give the image more color.

Thanks Ryan for the detailed critique/comment. Very useful. I'm thinking I may revisit this spot again sometime this winter. My plan is to go early in the morning after an icy cold night to capture the leave less tree full of ice. I'll try to use your advice and show where the tree is rooted.
