mikeoday 0 Posted November 8, 2008 I like the B&W version of this one. The conversion has simplified the image and tends to concentrate the viewer on the architectural details. All the best, Mike Link to comment
mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted November 8, 2008 Thanks Mike. By the way, the BW are taken directly in BW... Does it matter? Link to comment
mikeoday 0 Posted November 8, 2008 Not at all Marie-Therese; the camera is performing the conversion using its own default settings (and any that you can set yourself). The only advantage to performing the conversion manually (using Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, etc.) is that you can control the conversion of each colour and therefore experiment to achieve the result that most pleases you. In camera or post-processed, I like this one. All the best, Mike Link to comment
mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted November 9, 2008 thanks for the explanation, Mike. I set up my own options, following some advices received by another member some weeks ago... I don't have any Photoshop or whatever... Is there a good one FREE? Link to comment
mikeoday 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Sorry Marie-Therese I don’t know of any free software. I use Photoshop now but I used to use Photo Shop Elements – this is a very good introductory package and can be purchased reasonably cheaply (at least compared to Photoshop!); you may even be able to get a 2nd hand copy on EBAY (or similar). Sorry I cannot be more help; you might try posting a message on the Photo.Net forum pages to see if someone else knows of a free one. I look forward to seeing more of your images. All the best, Mike. mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted November 10, 2008 Thanks Mike. At least you know now why my pictures are not more manipulated... ;-) Link to comment
mtfaidherbe1 0 Posted December 22, 2008 I would like to make a general comment here about my use of photo.net in general. It has changed my view about my own pictures a lot. I realize that I can not be very objective about my own pictures, that is why I don't choose so much my pictures anymore and present most of them, and I see that some that I would have discard get great comments and other less... The comments I got taught me to correct some mistakes, and also raised my self-esteem a lot. As I had a difficult year, this site was of great help for me, and I would like to thank all of you. Wishing you all Happy Holidays, and an excellent New Year with plenty of beautiful pictures and great photo friends! Marie-Thérèse 22/12/2008 Link to comment
