Any suggestions would be helpful. I wonder if this just looks fuzzy and not pleasing. I

wonder if the bench seat doesn't have enough depth so that it looks more like a fence

then a bench. Thanks in advance - Lex

i think photos, images, need structure - parts that are different than other parts - just me. this one has plenty of structure, but i wouldn't say that many of your recent experiments do. it doesn't really matter if it's a bench though, to me anyway. Ruud will like it, and that's a great thing. j

acctually, i like it. i like the fact that the subject is still there, yet absracted. i like the contrast between the bench's straight lines and the waving backgound. i also like the enrgy generated by the reddish diagonal lines. keep going!

Thanks Jamie and Dror. It's interesting to hear both sides of what you guys say since I respect both of you a lot and the talent that you both have. When I thought I'd try something new I was hoping to capture lines and colors to make an abstract structure out of it, and I think that is what I've been feeling is lacking from some of my attempts and couldn't quiet find the words so thank you Jamie for articulating that. There is something about this type of photography that intrigues me and yet makes me very uncomfortable at the same time, and I think this photo does that more then most. I have a lot to think about... I'm going to have to go out and try some more of this with maybe thinking of structure instead of lines. Worse case scenario I take some photos and then delete them from my computer :) I love digital photography, no film costs. Thanks so much again for the comments! - Lex

this one is good. i like it. i'm just verbose.

and deleting doesn't cut it. you have to jettison the offending device from a great height over the pacific. the atlantic isn't good enough. fish there won't touch that sort of thing.

Very nice tones.

I think i might need more light in the fence, that this lovely pink come up better, maybe little more light in any case.

Thats only my opinion. But do like this anyhow very much. Maybe im just little jealous, because i cant find as nice place to do pictures like this is. LOL :)

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks you guys. This really is a dirty place, that's why I didn't take a more conventional shot there... granted if you looked in the other direction and walked around the front to the baths that is being remodeled, then you have the ocean and it's beautiful.

I agree Jamie there are some photos that it's worth coloring your monitor with a black permanent marker and then burning the hard drive to make sure no one ever ever ever see it. I've taken plenty of those.

Thanks again - LEx

Your concern really is unwarranted. Since this is supposed to be an abstract, it is, IMHO, wide open to interpretation. I do, indeed, see a bench. But, my interpretation of the photograph deals with a story it may tell - - of a dark, damp, misty night in the park, of magic that has changed the moonlight to purple, and of fearful creatures roaming.

And, btw, the colors and contrast are outstanding! Congratulations on a fine piece of work.

Thank you. I'm still very very new to this type of photography, and I think I'm over thinking a lot of it. So thank you and I'll try not to force it to be something that it doesn't need to be. Thanks again for you comments! - Lex
