nomade

Color corrected, since this was shot with a daylight film and the fluorescent light of this poster gave a cyan-green cast.

Snapshot at airport. NOT STAGED. Just an "image hunting" result. You'll find another image of the same place in this same page, in case you want to check...

Update (28.10.02): Thanks David for finding a caption for this one! :-)

Basta Snr Botta....definitely phallic! Good idea to leave out the 'L' - but you have added through the presence of a person, and your colour correction is spot on. It must be said, you take your opportunities, always on the lookout - wish I was as diligent as you. Cheers.

I just wish the person in front would have some light falling on her, but well, that's not something you could help, I guess. All else is perfect to me, and I like very much the fact that you left out the L and the E... For info, in French, "encore" would be roughly the same prononciation as "ancom", and "encore" means "again" - or "do it again"...:-) Regards.

The truth is that as this was shoted with a long lens, the light metering was made for the lightened background (no time for a better and more thought setting, as this was a snapshot). Hence, the girl was totally lost in shadows, I had to recover that part of the image with some masking.

Perfect! :)

Or almost. Perhaps for such an incredibly good shot you should also correct the distortion in the lower parts of the image to make it perfect!! However, the image is great!

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Milos, the bottom isn't a distortion, is the bottom of this huge notice, it was curved.

excellent! this image stands out from the rest in your folder.

great composition. leaving out the L and E was a great decision, because everyone knows that this is LANCOME. this adds another layer by further implying our own worship of the culture (or simply cult) of advertising.

by the way, i work in advertising (seriously). ha ha ha.

I dont quite understand if you took this picture out from a poster or if actually was taken in a studio with a real model and giant lipstick figure, could you explain a little more the techniques of your pictures.

It's not a studio shot with a model. That's why I wrote this in the technnical details:

Snapshot at airport. Not staged. Just an "image hunting" result.

This scene is REAL.

this image portays the desire of youth to have what is in the spot light at any given moment, personaly something that I don't appreciate. You have done a good job showing how influential advertisments can be.

This looks like the cover of a magazine. I find both the idea expressed and the aesthetics wonderful. Was it taken in a studio?

As I said before, it is *not* token in a studio, it is a snapshot in an airport.

And no fill flash used, the lens (70-300 mm) was at its maximal extension, the distance didn't allowed the use of any extra light. The light came from the sign itself.

Here goes a pictures of the same opportunity with the same girl playing at the same place.

I like very very much both photos. The object of these comments, and the one added above in your comment. They combine glamour and some frivolity with children innocence. GREAT!

I will leave the nit-picking of chromatic aberration aside, and simply say this is excellent commentary. You seem to study your shots well in advance, and still let opportunity come, which is far more admirable than any staged, "professional" photograph.
