Jörg I really love your work. I find myself tinkering in my studio oh so much more every time I look at one of your photo's.

Two Questions:

1.) Was the house a set built in the studio? If not what or how was this done?

2.) I have looked at a lot of your photo's do you use a mild soft filter on the camera as well?

Best regards,

James Rulison

James, the house I build years ago in my garden. Often we spend the summer evenings there. My first photographic tryouts with this technique I made in it. By the way, just in this moment I got the idea for this picture it starts to rain and we had to wait over two hours... Gina says "I`ll read a book till the rain ends..." so I took the next photo of her, reading...and yes sometimes I use soft filters at the camera.

The lighting on the house is amazing and so is the shot. Thanks again for answering the questions I look forward to seeing more of your work.

This is my favorite of yours so far. The colors compliment each other, the scene is real rather than set up, and the message is straight forward.

I'm curious about how you can illuminate areas that you can't get close to, like perhaps the ceiling beams inside. Are you using bulbs with different intensities, or just one bulb.

I assume the bright spot on the window is intentional.

You know what it is to put your heart and time and knowledge to CREATE a shot. Needless to say that your work is, well..,extreamly great and strong in the sense that it represents that rare combination of insiration and execution that goes only one way-perfection...Thank you. Stela Zaharieva

Was the lightbrush only used on the interior portion, with natural starlight picking up the exterior, or did you do this in two phases--a darkened exterior as the interior was lit and then the other way around? This would be amazing enough in Photoshop, but I have a feeling it's meticulous work with nothing but film, flashlights and gels as usual. Wonderfully composed, too.

Thanks for all the kind comments and excuse me for the late answer( we got a terrible hacker attack at our system). For the light inside I used two different things: a small penlight for Gina and a bigger one for the room. Then I walked outside and made the "moonlight" with a third lamp and a blue filter on it(while Gina was sitting on the bed)...
