irek_trzcinski 0 Posted October 15, 2002 Very good composition, colours and the feeling. Link to comment
bill_chaffins 0 Posted October 16, 2002 I seem to favor this view and crop, any suggestions? Link to comment
woodsprite 0 Posted October 16, 2002 Wow! I loved the other image and didn't think it could be better. But I like this even better. Gorgeous! :) Jacki Link to comment
root 0 Posted October 17, 2002 I've seen lots of shots of this mill and have been meaning to make the trip myself. The hard part seems to be getting the water to the right in front of the mill, but I don't think we've had enough rain to get the ideal shot. The picture seems to be divided in quarters which bothers me a bit. Also the foreground rocks have been cut off. I think some photographers have gone so far as to set up in the middle of the stream, but I'm not sure I'm willing to go that far. Link to comment
kaiblanke 1 Posted October 17, 2002 Great picture with amazing colors ! The foreground is a bit too dark for my taste, though, and the single water stream on the right side does not fit, but these are only minor points. Link to comment
bobhelveyphotography 0 Posted October 17, 2002 Delightful; would like to spend a week in that spot. Beautiful, well-constructed photo Link to comment
jim_johnson2 0 Posted October 17, 2002 Beautiful photo. Good use of balance between the falls and the structure. Perhaps could have included a little more of the foreground. Nonetheless, a very attractive shot. Link to comment
sriram1 0 Posted October 17, 2002 cant find any faults...picture perfect. looks like an oil painting (in a good way). Link to comment
miles_hecker 0 Posted October 18, 2002 This is a nice shot. I do find the cropping too tight on the lower left. A repositioning of the camera or a recompostion would give the falls a better position and improve the overall balance of the photo. Link to comment
robert goldstein 0 Posted October 18, 2002 I find it very annoying that some people feel compelled to pick away at a photo that is as near to perfection as you can get. Sure, the subject/genre has been done before, but that doesn't detract from the beauty and feeling of this particular image. Link to comment
trevor_hopkins 0 Posted October 19, 2002 It's a nice shot, but I prefer your previously uploaded version. The only gain with this shot is the waterfall on the left, but including that has divided our interest into two corners of the frame, upsetting the balance of the composition. The boost to contrast and saturation has been overdone, although it's obviously managed to catch more people's attention. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 20, 2002 Bill, Great lighting, excellent composition & sharpness. Super choice of shutter speed which enhances the look of the water flow. All coupled with an extraordinarily colourful scene makes for a shot I'd certainly be proud to have on my wall. A bonus point for getting up early (as if this photo wasn't enough reward). A result most of us only dream about. Best, LM. Link to comment
john graybill 0 Posted October 22, 2002 This is an extremely well executed photo on all levels. There is so much to look at, my eye wonders all through the photo only to repeat again and again. Very well done! Link to comment
graham_rowland 0 Posted October 22, 2002 This is totally idyllic. Your dof, the colors, sharpness of water - hey, you have everything. Link to comment
seven 0 Posted October 22, 2002 Does anyone live in this place? If not I'd like a lifetime's lease on it. I believe everything's been said regarding the beauty of the scene, the depth of the image itself (many would settle just for a waterfall with some greenery at the back) the mirroring of the Autumn colours in the structure itself; sharpness of the falls. Re: your request for comments on the crop/ angle. I think by including more rocks fg, dof might have been stretched for depth. So instead I might think of 2 slight snips : get rid of the fg rocks altogether, and come a little closer to the mill from the right....I really am hesitant to suggest this because it is such a beauty, but you asked, and I really tried hard for an alternative to suggest. These suggestions in no way diminish my appreciation of this fine work. Congratulations. Link to comment
