iancoxleigh 0 Posted October 21, 2008 Surprisingly dense snow-storm down on the valley floor at Grand Teton in June (at least I was surprised). All comments welcome. Thanks. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 25, 2008 As in some of your other works from the trip, the sense of space is obvious and well utilized. I like the way the depth of field makes the background almost feel like an echo, especially since the trees are so similar in shape. The snowflakes read beautifully, which I imagine were not that easy to capture. Has a nice moody feel to it. Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted October 31, 2008 Thanks Fred. I'm so sorry I left this for almost a week. Been very busy making some major decisions on things. As soon I get a chance I am going to go on a major, major edit of my portfolio. Part of which will be separating out the various images that share a similar aesthetic to this and placing them in a unified folder. P.S. The snow was actually quite easy to capture -- due to the very patchy and broken cloud cover, it was actually very bright during the snowfall. That allowed a fast shutter without compromising on DOF and I managed to get what I wanted in only a couple of frames. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted November 1, 2008 Ian; I like the uniform grayness of the sky and the bottom heavy composition it feels grounded and solid which contrasts nicely with the gauzy, head in the clouds, feel the snow imparts. The trees seem strong and stoic which I believe also relates back to the snow and gray sky. Link to comment
