anhaga 0 Posted October 20, 2008 Sublte and Sublime - an excellent image. Do you have versions with a little more f/g and a little less sky? This is just teetering on the edge of having a horizon slightly too central for my tastes, but it holds it enough here to feel balanced. Super stuff, James Link to comment

whydangle 0 Posted October 22, 2008 The quality of light and colors is exceptional. Post pro is crafty, but obviously the right side got hot. Younes, I have been shooting various exposures for just such things, using an overly underexposed image to blend in some needed detail in clipped areas. I realize that it is not clipped in all channels, but if you can avoid clipping in any channels, it can buy a little more detail. I am eluding to a very minor thing, the image is nearly flawless. I love the chiaroscuro effect, the light bathing the multihued vines while the ground is subdued. I especially love the varied color palette; complimentary colors adding contrast. The sky has a painterly characteristic. It is simply magical!! Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted October 27, 2008 Younes, what lens did you use here? Mark G's comment is interesting, but this is a wonderful composition. I'm curious, did you scout out this location and wait for the right sunrise/sunset? Or did you chance upon it? The complimentary colors and precision of detail really make this a wonderful result. Cheers. Link to comment
younes 0 Posted October 28, 2008 Thanks everyone for the great feedback: Marc: unfortunately I shot this in jpeg (!!!), for some reason my camera switched to jpeg capture by accident, so the only way I could fix this was by using the healing brush, which I think did a fair job. Kurt: thanks for dropping by as usual. I didn't scout this place at all. In fact I was heading out to another place on the train, I looked out the window and said to my cousins: that's our stop...walked down a bit, found this spot and waited for the light. I must say I was pretty fortunate :). And I almost forgot, this was taken using my faithful Sigma 10-20. Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted October 31, 2008 YB, it's great! That's a great story, too. I realize that many "serious" photographers do scouting and lots of waiting, but this photo proves that the world around us has unexpected beauty, and it's great to keep a camera handy, our favorite lens, and a watchful eye to see. I'm also glad to hear you are back on your feet, man! I'm envious of your extensive travels, though heheh. Link to comment
