Hi Kat,

First of all I hope your little girl came out of this surgery without complications and she makes good progress with recovery. Must be a hard time for you and your husband. As a med student (we're colleagues) you are aware of all the risks which come with major surgery of the heart. I think it's good to make a book with photos of the surgery and stay in the hospital.

This photo really impressed me. A little innocent girl in a huge bed with a lot of wires and medical machines. A view nobody hopes/likes to see. We live in a large world with many opportunities but for her isn't the world at the moment lager then her bed.

I think the 'faded color' is a good choice, but it feels a little too much 'sepia' for me.

Using B&W is a good choice for this series because it distracts us less from the thing where it is all about: your girl.

All the best for you and your family.

Regards, Pim

In my opinion, this is the most powerfull of all the photos in this series. I've been sitting here trying to figure out how to explain why I think that but I can't really. I think it just comes down to the feelings I have when seeing this sweet little girl surrounded by this huge bed and all this equipment.

Wishing you all the best,

Amy

I must say that the image is extremely powerful so much that it put tears in my eyes. I have a 4 yrs daughter and I'm so in love with her that just the thought of her going through that just makes my cringe.

I trully wish the best for her and your family.

Regards,

Alex

My heart about stopped to see this series of images. First, and most importantly, I hope that all is well with your daughter. This image brought back a year spent in the hospital with my daughter undergoing treatment for cancer, and the hundreds of hours I sat and stared at her sleeping in a bed like that, hooked up to machines and bags of toxins. She was 20 years old at the time, and didn't want me to take photos of her, but I did on occasion and some when she was asleep as I knew it would be important some day for her to be able to fully come to terms with what she went through. Your images brought back a lot of memories for me, and remind me of the power this photos can hold. The images I took of my daughter are the most important photos I have ever made, although perhaps the audience for them is limited to myself. Difficult as they are for the parents or family to look at, they can help us understand things about the experience in the future. Thanks for sharing them with us, and I will be thinking of you and your family-

Mark
